"Hello stranger..."

Closer is a movie that dares you to hate it, but begs you to love it, at the same time. Ditto for the characters. None of them are absolutely angels, in a way they're all out to just do whatever the hell it is they want to do, and to be damned with everyone else. But I applaud this movie for the fact that it shows "love" for what it truly is, a confusing mess (most of the time), where everyone wants someone/something other than the one they have. I must say that the acting was absolute spot-on, and you really genuinely start to care about the characters, problem of course being, that their respective stories aren't very well tied up, so you're not left with a lot of closure.

Anydangway, Julia Roberts did excellent for being someone other than Ms. Happy robot smiling skeleton lady, and Clive Owen proves that he is capable of being a pompous asshole, or pretty much just pompous (he could be the next Bond if he plays his cards right I imagine). Natalie Portman once again proves that she is an absolutely brilliant actress, and Jude Law proves for the millionth time that he has to be the Hollywood's "It" boy for this year. This is what, his fiftieth movie in the past year? It's like Colin Farrell all over again... As a sort of game for those of you planning to go watch it, see if you can count how many acts of deceit are in the movie as a whole, I counted 10.

So, now I bring to you a duo of songs from the movie, one from the trailer / tv spots, and one from the actual movie itself, which was used to stunning effect at the beginning and especially at the end.

- Jem's "Come On Closer"
- Damien Rice's "The Blower's Daughter"

These two songs may be downloaded here, in a Zip file.

Trailer for "Closer" here.
